This error is caused by a corrupt file. To fix this, go to the “My Files” folder and delete everything in there (but not the .kodi folder) except for your profile/userdata/all.xml files.

If you are experiencing the “couldn’t preview file” error, it could be due to a number of reasons. The most common reason is that your internet connection has been interrupted or there is limited connectivity.

Because of Google’s ubiquity, Google Drive is now one of the most popular cloud storage alternatives. However, just because something is popular does not guarantee that it will run well.

In this post, we’ll go through how to solve the ‘couldn’t preview file’ issue in Google Drive, as well as a few more options.

While Google Drive can preview almost any file type, including most photos, documents, and videos, it does not support all file formats. To determine whether your file is compatible with Google Drive, look at the list of supported file types.

If it isn’t, you’ll need to convert it to one that Drive recognizes in order to get a preview.

Another option is to open the file preview in a separate window. This approach has been reported to work for some users. You may see the preview by clicking the three vertical dots in the top right corner and selecting Open in new window while you’re on the preview page.

You may be unable to preview files due to faulty cookies or cache data. Whether that’s the case, test if you can preview files by launching Drive in an incognito tab.

This issue may also be resolved by enabling all cookies in your browser. Simply go to chrome:/settings/cookies and choose Allow all cookies from the drop-down menu. After that, restart your browser and give it another go.

Logging out and back in is a tried-and-true method for resolving similar issues on almost every website. If you’re having trouble seeing previews on Google Drive, try signing out and back in again to see if that fixes the issue.

Extensions that are corrupt or malfunctioning may create a variety of issues, including this one.

Try removing all of your extensions at chrome:/extensions to see if the browser returns to normal; if it does, enable them one by one until you have all of the critical extensions operating again.

This issue may also be caused by corrupt files in your cache or elsewhere. To check if you can get Chrome to operate, clear them out.

Step 1: In your browser’s address box, type chrome:/settings/clearBrowserData and press Enter.

Step 2: Select the cache and cookies choices, making sure that the Time range is set to All time. To delete all the data, click the Clear Now option.

Chrome may be reset to address a variety of faults and malfunctions with the browser.

To begin, go to chrome:/settings/reset. Restore settings to their original defaults by clicking Restore settings to their original defaults.

Step 2: Chrome will display a warning message. Reset Settings will return your browser to its default settings.

This should bring the previews back to life.

If the problem is with Chrome, it’s likely that engineers will release an update to address it. Regardless, you should always make sure you’re using the most recent version of your browser to prevent issues that may otherwise be avoided.

Make sure you’re on the most recent update by going to chrome:/settings/help. If you aren’t, make sure you’re up to date and try again.
